Winter

The ski slopes on the southern side of the Austrian Alps offer a lot of sun. One more reason why Carinthia is becoming increasingly popular as a winter sports destination - especially with families. The combination of sunny slopes, plenty of southern hospitality and culinary delights from the Carinthian Alpine Adria cuisine makes for perfect winter holidays. And how abundantly the sun shines here is also evident from the statistics.

In the winter months, the Carinthian ski areas provide around 100 hours more sunshine than other destinations north of the Alpine main ridge. This is measured with the winter sundial on the Nassfeld near the mountain station. Carinthia is the largest sun terrace in the Alps in winter!
